NIOS Secondary Course (Class 10)
The NIOS Secondary Course is equivalent to the Class 10 (Xth standard) of other recognized education boards. Students can select their subjects from the NIOS Scheme of Studies, as prescribed by the board.
For successful certification, learners must complete a minimum of five subjects, which must include at least one language and a maximum of two languages. Selection of subjects should be done carefully, keeping academic goals and eligibility requirements in mind.
Scheme of Studies – NIOS Secondary (Class 10)
To obtain the NIOS Secondary Pass Certificate, students are required to:
Pass in a minimum of five subjects
Include one or two language subjects from Group ‘A’
Choose three or four additional subjects from Group ‘B’
Students are permitted to take up to two additional subjects, if required.
In total, a learner can select a maximum of seven subjects.

Five subjects with either one or two languages from Group A and the remaining subjects from Group B
Two additional subjects can be taken from either of the two groups with additional fees as per NIOS norms.
